I’m behind on the Tracie Tanner series by Allan Leverone. It is something I intend to correct. All Enemies, the second book in the series with the CIA covert ops hero, and it delivers just as much excitement as the first.Tracie Tanner is assigned an impossible task. She’s isolated, shunned, and eventually fired from her position with the CIA. A female version of Jack Reacher, she improvises, uses her talents and what is at hand to rescue a kidnapped official, the Secretary of State. Set during the Reagan administration, a time before smartphones and portable computing, Tanner relies on her wits and training, and when no one believes her when she discovers what is really going on, she pushes ahead anyway.
Leverone has a masterful command of language, pacing, plot, and characters we love and hate appropriately. The dialogue is genuine, and he suspends our disbelief from the start, making the story both believable and enjoyable. A solid read, I recommend the whole series and all of Leverone’s work.

I downloaded the book as soon as I saw it was released due to my thou tough enjoyment of the first one. I was NOT disappointed. Love Tracie as the main character and the 80's setting where cell phones can't save the day. My countdown is on to the third book!!! Finished this one in 2 days
The US Secretary of State has been kidnapped and all the evidence point to the Russians as being the culprits.
Agent Tracie Tanner is assigned off the books to find him and bring him home. The CIA and FBI, also in the hunt are pushing for an assault on Russia. Meanwhile Tanner's hunt indicates that it is the Iraqi's.
A great deal of action, espionage and political misinformation and interference make this a good read.
Allan Leverone has quite a good opus for himself he can go from a main character that is an accomplished hit man, to a woman like Tracie who tries desperately to keep her feet on the ground and her head in the game. While all around her the scene goes from one to the next. But she is loyal and this shines through in Leverone's story. She must save the Secretary of State while she herself is held in question. Great book because the reader can identify to the "personal struggle" aspect.
Nothing like a trash-talking, can't keep her mouth shut CIA agent. This was my first Tracie Tanner thriller, and I don't see why I won't read more. The plot is described well in the overview of the book as well as by many other reviewers. So, there is no need to repeat that line. The book moves well, a lot of fast pace that keeps the reader on edge - at least it did me. There were really not major twists in the plot line, i.e., it seemed pretty obvious how things were going to end up. I had started the book on a Sunday, and finished it in two more sittings. But, the book is a nice, quick read, and I recommend it.
I truly love the writing style of Allen Leverone. With the similar style to Dale Brown, Clive Cussler and other great fiction adventure writers he captures your attention and keeps it going. Thank you for the awesome series. t
A secret agent involved with a government agency puts her life on the line sometimes without any backup, mostly in foreign countries. She was responsible for putting her life in jeopardy while saving the life of the President. It began when a contract was put out on her. The details involving the destruction of a large aircraft and the murder of the crew by a pilot, a major who had been supplying the enemy with classified information. The motive _kill the agent. This book is almost impossible to wait to see what will transpire next. A MUST READ.
I have a hard time reviewing books, only because I hate giving things away. So I tend to be very vague. Allan Leverone is a wonderful writer. With each book he writes the stories get more exciting and his characters more appealing. I enjoy books that are series. Good characters become friends and it is sad when you know that is the last time you get to be in their world. The Tracie Tanner thrillers are books you do not want to do want to to end but you need to know what happens. I could not put the book down. I also love the fact that President Reagan is in the book.
Being a woman it amazes me when a man writes a woman character, especially as the protagonist, and does it extremely well. Mr. Leverone does just that. I truly believe you will not be disappointed if read this series. You will be totally glad you did and look forward to the next one. You may even want to buy all three so you do not need to wait!! So as always, find your favorite chair, grab a strong cup of coffee, a relaxing spot of tea, or an amazing glass of wine, and enjoy the adventure!
